parisian green.

thank you to the makers of this brilliant little idea!
very sweet and deliciously cute!
a porcelain alternative to the nasty paper/plastic coffee cups which are eating the planet's heart strings!
plus, so many fetching designs to choose from!

something to dream about.

this is a little something i'd been working on late thursday night after work... it's made to catch dreams, but hopefully so they stay near by so i can remember them...

Morning Wall

after coming back from europe last year and subsequently losing everything that had once been important to me, i made a wall to commemorate all that had happened and to remind me that i was a stronger person for having been through it.

this week, i decided the memory should remain just that, rather than a constant reminder that i woke up to every morning.
so, this is the new and improved Morning Wall.

my new old plate.

i read Candy last year after watching the infamous Heath Ledger film adaptation and i wish i'd read it first. the film definitely does the novel justice, but to go through Luke Davies' words was truely an ethereal experience- for me anyway.

there were sentences and phrases i just wanted to underline or highlight (but couldn't because i borrowed the book from my cousin). i read and re-read them and posted them on my walls and made artworks about them and burned them into my memory.
yesterday i decided to extend my love of his words to my other one true love- of everything vintage and sweet.
this is what came of that venture...

here's just a little of my own handiwork...

this is my greatest creation to date... i made it on a rainy day out of new and vintage fabrics and it tags along with me on all my adventures. the best rucksack anyone could ask for- cuddly doubling as a pillow when stuffed with travel clothing!!

11.54

so it's eleven o'clock on a weeknight and it's likely i'll be on my laptop, searching the web for anything new, inspiring or potentially mind numbing before i make my way to a broken night's snooze.

etsy is usually the mecca for anything chic, hip or su
ave; definitely a ten out of ten in my book.
this evening, i think i've found a new love interest in the works of Vincenzo Rizzo!

seriously amazing images- take a look at the gorgeously delicate pieces.

afternoon tea cake.

made myself a little delicious.

monday 12th of september.

.

have a lurk.

after many years of piecing this space together (that being the one i take up in my 'share house') i've finally come to an end with the main wall! this is something i'm fairly proud of, as it's been a work in progress for more than six years since i moved in here. it's a bit of a 3D collage of all the little sentimental pieces that inspire me. plus, it's something pretty cute to wake up to every morning..

this one's a bit of a close up of my phrenology head, which despite many rumours, is NOT possessed.

for arts sake 2011.

this is an exhibition that'll be held on Wednesday September 28 at COFA (main gallery,6pm-9pm) showcasing the work of 400 artists, each canvas the same size and starting price.
highly recommended.

there's something about amsterdam.

now, we all expect the standard seedy grin that comes with an exaggerated, "nudge nudge, wink wink" reaction when anyone talks about amsterdam, but it's actually a lot more than suggestive alley ways and agreeable cafes.
some of the finest street art and most amazing culture i've experienced hangs amongst the bike riding, flower growing, creative types that roam the streets with a kind of cred that hs to be earned.
there's a "too cool for school" attitude that takes over and you kind of begin to talk the talk (within linguistic reason) while wishing 'home', wherever that may be, was this amazing.
it's hard to keep your wits about you with so many snippets of ultra-fantastics to see, but just passing through 'cycle-donned streets and miniature crevices of street art domain, opens so many loop holes of mind expansion, that i can't even remember where to begin.

so here's to amsterdam! a toast, for the red-lightiest, cafe delightiest city a cookie cutter lover could ever ask for!

something read.

sometime last December

pyking around.

after a crazy day boarding trains and driving like a mad person, yesterday officially became Josh Pyke Day, on account of myself and my trusty pals went to see him play at Wollongong Uni Bar. It was a pretty cute affair with the lovingly cosy space and low-key atmosphere...a very personal experience indeed. His old favourites paired with fresh newbies made the fast paced journey, well worth the effort.
oh dreamy josh...

now friends, i've tried to upload a video i took, but it's not working at the moment- but i shant give up!!

you lust for the dream
until you can touch it,
then all of a sudden,
it doesn't feel how you thought it should.

i was feeling a bit romantic that day.

sometime last october.

verona.

i was in Verona last year, only for a little bit, and apart from the standard golden Juliette boob grab, i bumped into this street performer- quite literally...

at the time i was mildly freaked out, on account of the fact that i'd thought he was a statue.

after a broken Italian apology, i took this photo to remember our time together.

for funsies.

this has to be one of the best covers i've ever heard.
ever.

this was taken last year on a trip to yiayia's childhood home in Limnos, Greece.

there's something about the clean white washed walls and crispy mountain air that makes this place seem so far away from anywhere i'd ever been before. the fact that this was where yiayia and papou had lived more than forty years ago made it even more amazing to me. to be in yiayia's home was surreal. to try and comprehend how nine people had lived in this tiny little house on a hill was something i'm truely glad i got the chance to see.

we should be living like we did that summer.

mum says i look like a "bunny rabbit"...

pretty

self

explanatory.

afternoon.

for as long as i can remember, i've seen this elusive bird beautifying the space of
yiayia's
lounge
wall
and it has been the undeniable object of my affection since i was about five.

given to her by her brother as a parting gift, flown
16 000km's and nested on the white surface that has been its home, i doubt there's anything this sentimentally significant in my house.

spring at my house.

wish i had a mango tree
in my backyard
with you standin'
next to me
take the picture
from her lips i heard her say
can
i
have
you

caught up in what to say
i said you do

tears for fears.

some love from yours truely.

sometime in 2007

melbourne.

there's nothing more brilliant than someone saying, "let's get out of town".
these were the words my sister and i decided to act on about a month ago...
so we flew to Melbourne.

traditionally, Sydners are supposed to compete with the ever so ultra-cool Melbournites; it's just how it's always been.
yet after the epic four days there (YES! that's all it took!) i stand a convert. it's amazing. and i know i overuse that word way too much, but there's no denying it...(and believe me, i've tried).

walking down the street is a cultural experience. having a chai latte is an undeniable infusion of all things spicey and nicey. book shops are owned and run by, in the words of Eric Zoolander, 'ridiculously good-looking' people that are too cool to even think 'being cool' is cool.

it's just the nature of things below the border that makes me want to stop and say, "hey, let's move to Melbourne soon."

what i bought today.

there's about five fantastic op shops in my obviously local area and they are pretty relible when i'm just wanting to kill time, buy or collect.
but today my heart literally stopped when i saw this amazing painting in the half off bin.
now, it may be my unnatural obsession with ballerina memorabilia, or it might just be the plain amazingness that is this image, but it now proudly decorates the previously blank spot that used to be my wall...

just thought it'd be nice to share...

goosebumps.

i can't really get enough of this song. every time i hear it, i have the same reaction in a different way.

P.S. this photo's not my own...RADIOHEAD online images.

thursday lincher

lincher

this morning, yiayia's up bright and early... there's cooking going on in the kitchen for the regular lunch/dinner (lincher) combination, which has almost become an officially acknowledged "meal label" in our house...
i think that's pretty cute.

three thoughts.

these are photos I took of dion about four years ago...they were inspired by Bill Hensen's amazing photography..

p.s. good morning to you.

a highly recommended item to
brighten your open mind...

P.S. this photo's not my own...check out the official ACTIVE CHILD website.

today.

Today was pretty beautiful, on account of the weather and the amazing feeling, that I had nothing to do. There were no plans and no responsibilities and that was deliciously satisfying.

I've come to learn that there's no greater happiness than sometimes sitting back while the afternoon wastes away and just thinking about nothing in particular.
